Clear Creek Welcome Center, Lebanon Rest Areas closed for reconstruction starting on or after June 1

VIGO & BOONE CO. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the Clear Creek Welcome Center on I-70 and both northbound and southbound Lebanon Rest Areas on I-65 will close on or after Thursday, June 1 for reconstruction.

Construction at these locations is expected to take two years. The improvements for each location are as follows:

Clear Creek Welcome Center (I-70 EB, MM 2 in Vigo County)

  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway theme – visitors can interact with exhibits featuring the IMS, local and regional racing history
  • Children’s play area
  • Adult recreation area and walking path
  • Dog Park
  • There will be a total of 150 semi-truck parking spaces.
  • 150 truck parking spaces
  • Trucker restroom facilities
  • Improved vending options and tourism-related information

Lebanon Rest Areas (I-65 NB, MM 148 / I-65 SB, MM 149 in Boone County

  • New facilities for semi truck parking only
  • 75 semi-truck parking spaces at each facility
  • Trucker restroom facilities

INDOT is executing a 10-year plan to improve interstate rest areas and welcome centers statewide to modernize facilities, construct new buildings, and improve parking for both passenger vehicles and large trucks. When completed, INDOT’s improvement plan is projected to add more than 1,100 additional semitrailer parking spaces to facilities statewide. INDOT plans call for an investment of over $600 million in improvements to 21 rest areas and welcome centers by the end of fiscal year 2030. INDOT currently operates 26 rest area or welcome center facilities on Indiana’s interstate highways across the state. Nine rest area locations have facilities on both sides of the interstate, and eight sites are located on only one side of the highway.
