FAYETTEVILLE – Two people suffered minor injuries in an accident on State Road 450 at the intersection of Louie Smith Road.
Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to an accident at 11:02 p.m. on Saturday, May 6.
According to police, the driver Hannah Johnson was traveling too fast for the wet weather conditions.
Johnson told the officer she was traveling just over the speed limit and going through the curve when she lost control of her Buick Lucerne. The vehicle traveled down the embankment and collided with several saplings and came to a stop in the tall grass.
Johnson told police she was 7 weeks pregnant and had suffered a slight nosebleed.
Her passenger Omarrio Otowo complained of shoulder pain.
Both Johnson and Otowo had climbed out the driver’s side window to escape the wreckage before police arrived.
Both were transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
Damages were estimated between $2,500 to $5,000. The vehicle was towed by Mikels Towing And Recovery LLC.
