BEDFORD – Two Bedford residents were arrested on Friday, May 12 on drug charges after a Bedford Police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Becky Skillman Way.
The officer stopped the black Dodge Durango at 4:51 p.m. in the parking lot of McAlister’s Deli.
The officer then spoke to the driver 39-year-old Justin Morris and his passenger 41-year-old Kerri Strange.
The officer reported both appeared nervous and had “fidgety movements”.
The officer then requested to search the vehicle but Morris denied that request.
They were both asked to step out of the vehicle. The officer began writing Morris a citation for speeding.
Canine Zazu then alerted the officers to possible narcotics in the vehicle. Morris then admitted to there was a meth pipe near the back passenger door.
During a search of the vehicle, police found that pipe. Police also found a black pouch with a plastic baggie of crystal meth located inside. Three more plastic baggies were found that tested positive for heroin and several more smoking devices contained marijuana residue. They also located a metal grinder containing marijuana along with a second baggy containing crystal meth residue. A black backpack in the back seat that contained a straw with meth residue was also found.
Strange admitted some of the items were hers. She then complained of being dizzy and an ambulance responded to the scene. Once she was medically cleared, Strange and Morris were detained.
Morris was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Strange was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
The vehicle was towed by Mikels Towing And Recovery and a friend was called to pick up a dog that was in the vehicle.
