Bedford Housing Authority awards Section 8 vouchers

BEDFORD – Thursday, July 20, the Bedford Housing Authority Board met at 1:30 p.m. to discuss several matters.

  • Most importantly, the commission awarded eight Section 8 vouchers to be assigned to the new apartments/elderly facility that are going to be constructed next year near the former Great Escape Theater, which was approved. Those eight residences will be solely used by those who possess vouchers.
  • Bobbie Ames presented the 2023 Auditor results: everything was found to be in proper order by the auditor.
  • Bobbie Ames also presented the condition of certain apartments recently vacated, and that they were working to fill them.

Changes to a certain policy:

  • As a new requirement, the Board approved changes to Resolution 655 – HCV Admin Policy Changes in chapter seven and chapter ten.
    • These changes amount to the removal of certain passages, and the addition of others.

Section 8 Vouchers:

Section 8 Housing Vouchers subsidize payments for those who qualify, sometimes covering entirely or paying a part of rent for those with vouchers, depending on their eligibility.

The next meeting of the Bedford Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, August 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hauck House in the Dining Room.
