BEDFORD – On Monday, July 24 at 5:50 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day and Officer Kinsley Duncan conducted a traffic stop along State Road 37, near Washboard Road, after Sheriff Day and Indiana State Trooper Chance Humphrey saw 59-year-old James Doyle, of Bedford, driving a vehicle north on State Road 37.
Officers were attempting to locate Doyle because he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for dealing meth in Lawrence County.
The warrant stemmed from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Indiana State Police with assistance from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.
During the traffic stop, while taking Doyle into custody for the warrant, officers located approximately 14 grams of meth in his pocket.
Doyle was arrested for the warrant and a new offense of possession of methamphetamine between 10 and 28 grams, a Level 4 felony.
Trooper Humphrey applied for and was granted a search warrant for Doyle’s residence on Walnut Heights Road.
Trp. Humphrey, along with Lawrence County officers Duncan, Robin Compton, Sgt. Michael Williams and Sheriff Day executed the search warrant. Additional items of evidence were seized.
During the investigation, officers encountered 33-year-old Brittany Grissom, of Bedford and discovered she was wanted on an active failure to appear warrant. Officer Duncan and Capt. Harrison Fleetwood arrested Grissom.
