BEDFORD – On Tuesday, July 25, Sherriff Greg Day reported that 133 inmates were housed in the Lawrence County Jail.
Of the 133 inmates, 104 are male, and 29 are female.
- 19 inmates are Department of Corrections holds
- Four are parole holds
- 13 are Level 6 felons
Council member Julie Hewetson brought up concerns about DOC being behind on their holds.
Regarding council concerns about the delay with the DOC holds, the Sherriff explained that DOC has been dealing with a new system, and as of last week, there are 37 other counties DOC has to service before they are able to return to Lawrence County.
