Teen must appear in court for striking and scratching her mother

BEDFORD – A 13-year-old female was detained on a charge of battery after Bedford Police officers responded to a report of a domestic fight in the 2000 block of F Street Tuesday afternoon.

When the first officer arrived he was flagged down by a juvenile who took him inside the home. There the officer spoke to an adult female who admitted she and her 13-year-old daughter had been in a physical altercation.

The woman told police she had asked the 13-year-old several times to go take a shower and she refused to cooperate and became aggressive towards her.

The mother stated her daughter grabbed her arms and pulled her hair. The teen then hit her mother several times in the chest and face.

During the struggle, the woman fell to the ground and the teen grabbed her legs and scratched her with her nails.

Police say the woman suffered minor bleeding from being hit in the mouth and from the scratches.

Police detained the 13-year-old on a charge of domestic battery and transported her to the Bedford Police Department.  The teen was later released to her mother with a promise to appear in court on August 2, at 9 a.m.
