LOOGOOTEE – Calling all artists! The Loogootee Beautification Board is seeking proposals from talented artists to create a mural for downtown Loogootee.
The Loogootee Beautification Board was awarded a grant to have a mural painted on the side of Hometown Flowers & Gifts. An area that is sometimes a reminder of what our community has lost is going to have a beautiful mural painted on the side of the building to brighten up the area.
The Board envisions this mural as a vibrant expression of patriotism and community pride, enriching lives and bringing joy to the heart of Loogootee.
The application process is straightforward and consists of three sections:
Section 1: Personal Contact Information: Interested artists are required to provide their name, mailing address, phone number, preferred email address, and links to their artist’s website and social media profiles. Additionally, they should attach a PDF of their current CV or resume as well as an artist statement.
Section 2: Mural and Community Engagement Experience: Applicants will be asked about their previous experience with murals, including details about dimensions, location, design parameters, and the time it took to complete past projects. Artists are also encouraged to share their lift operating experience or willingness to obtain necessary licenses, as some murals may require the use of lifting equipment. Artists are also requested to attach a portfolio of their previous mural work, including 5–10 jpeg images along with details of each creation.
Section 3: Your Reason: In this section, artists are given the opportunity to express why they are passionate about creating the Patriotic Wall Mural for Loogootee. They can share their inspirations, visions, and artistic goals related to this project.
The mural project offers a budget of $7,000, and artists are asked to submit their proposals by Friday, September 1, via email to loogooteebeautificationboard@gmail.com.
