WHITESTOWN – Bedford’s 12U Little League All-Stars advanced through the first elimination game with a 2-1 victory over Michigan during the Great Lakes Regional on Sunday night.
Bedford will now face Kentucky (Lexington) in another elimination game on Monday at 1 p.m. Ohio conquered Kentucky 6-0 and will meet Illinois in the winner’s bracket semifinal on Monday night.
Saxton Pennycuff fired a complete-game two-hitter with five strikeouts.
With two outs in the bottom of the third inning, Bedford erupted for its runs. Jay Hout reached on an error, Bear Browning walked, and Pennycuff smacked a two-run triple to center.
Michigan (from Midland) pushed across its run in the fifth.
Owen Fausett had two hits for Bedford.
