Randall “Randy” Thomas Sokeland, 83, of Orleans, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 21, 1940, in Gibson County, he was the son of Millard and Ruth (Noble) Sokeland. He married Darla Bowman on January 1, 1960, and she survives.
Randy was a 1958 graduate of Orleans High School. He grew up in Orange County in the Orangeville area. He was a member of the Church of Christ and preached for several years in the smaller rural congregations. Randy retired from the Orange County Highway Department.
Surviving are his wife, Darla Sokeland of Orleans; children, Justin (Susan) Sokeland of Bedford, Aaron (Laurie) Sokeland of Bloomington, and Leta (Bryan) Horstman of Evansville; sisters, Peg (Tom) Stephens of Washington and Linda (Preston) Jeffiers of Taylorsville, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ray Judy of Franklin; and four nieces and nephews.
His parents and daughter, Deanna Judy, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Jeremy Goen officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
