BEDFORD – On July 31, 2023, Andrea Haley was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) as part of a negotiated plea written by Prosecutor Samuel C. Arp II. Haley was charged and pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated while being a habitual vehicle substance offender.
Prosecutor Arp stated that Haley had three previous convictions for operating while intoxicated and that this gave him great concern as it related to public safety.
As part of the plea agreement, Haley was sentenced to the Recovery While Incarcerated (R.W.I.) program at the Indiana Department of Corrections.
“I had written the plea agreement in a manner that would give Haley the opportunity to seek out addiction treatment while at IDOC and then have the option to have her sentence modified in a manner that could allow her to come back to Lawrence County and be heavily supervised in the problem-solving Court that is run by Judge Robert Cline,” Prosecutor Arp added.
Prosecutor Arp stated that the plea agreement was designed to give Haley the best chance at rehabilitation while ensuring the safety of everyone in the community.
