Hotdog heist and chip crook may be related

BLOOMINGTON — After 360 ball park franks were stolen missing from a concession stand at Bloomington’s Bryan Park Pool, a potato chip thief completed a heist at a local ice cream shop.

Bloomington Police Department officers were alerted around 4 p.m. Monday to the Chocolate Moose ice cream shop location at 405 South Walnut Street for a burglary.

An employee reported that a potato chip rack was missing from the store and that it was unknown when it had gone missing. A review of security footage showed that, around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, the store was burglarized the same day as the hotdog heist.

That video showed a male gaining access to the store by climbing through a window. The male is then seen grabbing the rack that contained around 40 bags of potato chips before leaving through the same window he entered.

Police say no suspect has not been identified in either theft.
