BEDFORD – The Historic Review board met today and approved Brandi Wood’s plans for her new business location. What was formerly the Stone Cottage is now the future home for LawCo Living Real Estate Co., which is currently located at 1016 16th Street in Bedford.
Brandi plans to keep the historical value of the building on the square while updating the look to reflect her brand. After purchasing the Stone Cottage building, which now stands vacant, she had appropriate time for consideration and planning. Today, she brought her proposal for exterior updates and changes before the board.
These improvements are to be phase one of a much larger plan to gradually improve the entire building.
The improvement plan approved for phase one is to:
- Clean the limestone.
- Remove the paint from the limestone corners.
- Remove the paint from the east-facing brick wall and make repairs/tuck points as needed.
- Remove and replace rotten wood with LP Smart Side and Trim and then paint it.
- Paint upper windows.
- Paint the entry door and metal posts, removing the old carpet outside the entry.
- Paint and/ or replace the East side entry door and paint the gutter.
- Replace glass pane(s) in the storefront windows.
- Install a light above the storefront entry door.
- Install awnings and signage.
- Install security cameras.
All of the changes met the requirements and limitations set out for the development and alteration of the area’s structures.
These changes are going to begin later this fall in the coming month of September.
