DAVIESS CO. – At approximately 11:41 p.m., Daviess County Central Dispatch received a call of a vehicle that struck a pole near the intersection of County Road 700 North and County Road 300 East. The caller reported one of the people involved was not breathing.
Daviess County deputies arrived on the scene and began investigating.
According to police, a 1997 Jeep with seven occupants was traveling west on CR 700 N. The front passenger seat was occupied by two female passengers, neither wearing seatbelts. One of the female passengers was partially leaning outside of the vehicle as it traveled down the road. At some point, it side-swiped a pole, striking the female passenger.
Plainsville Volunteer Fire Department first responders performed life-saving measures on 16-year-old Lora Braber, of Odon, however, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver Jordan Wagler, of Montgomery, submitted to a blood draw with the initial result of a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent and he was detained on a charge of driving while intoxicated causing death.
The accident remains under investigation by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Indiana State Police who are assisting with reconstructing the accident.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Plainville Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, the Daviess County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana State Police, and Briggeman’s Wrecker Service.
