RAMSEY – Bedford North Lawrence finished the regular season with a 1-1 deadlock against North Harrison during girls high school soccer action on Saturday.
BNL’s Britta Warren scored with 18 minutes left in the first half (her 17th goal of the season) for the Stars. Amber McDougall converted a penalty kick (following a hand ball violation in the box against the Stars) for the Cougars with 16 minutes remaining in the second.
“We had several close opportunities to score to win the game but got unlucky on all of them,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “We played with a lot of heart and determination, especially in the last 10 minutes of the game. We just got unlucky and sometimes that’s how the game of soccer goes. We had some great attacks but just couldn’t seem to get the ball in the back of the net, no matter how hard we tried.
“I think if we would’ve had five more minutes on the clock, we would’ve been able to put one in. If they play like they did the last 10 minutes of the game, most teams will have a hard time beating us.”
BNL (6-8-1) will host the IHSAA sectional next week and face New Albany in the semifinal on Thursday.
