BEDFORD – A Bloomington man was arrested after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received a FLOCK hit on a stolen red 2003 Honda Pilot on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
About an hour later a Bedford Police officer spotted the vehicle parked at Hardee’s on 16th Street.
Police say 50-year-old Nicholas McPherson got out of the driver’s side shut the door and walked inside of Hardees.
Once officers confirmed it was the stolen vehicle, they blocked the vehicle and went inside the building to locate McPherson sitting at a table.
McPherson was detained. He denied stealing or driving the vehicle. He told police he had walked from the south side of Bloomington to Bedford. Nicholas stated he had a set of Honda keys in his pocket but they were to his Honda Accord. He then stated, “They won’t go to that vehicle”.
The officer took the keys, put them in the ignition, and started the vehicle.
Police then confirmed McPherson was wanted on a parole violation warrant.
McPherson was detained on charges of auto theft and escape.
In the vehicle, police found a suitcase that contained items belonging to McPherson.
Police learned the vehicle had been stolen from a business in Monroe County. The vehicle was released to the owner.
