Oaktown man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for stabbing his wife to death

KNOX CO. – Kevin Hatfield, of Oaktown, was sentenced to 78 years in prison in Knox County Superior Court 1 after he was convicted of stabbing his wife to death.

Court records show Hatfield was found guilty following a jury trial in June 2023. Judge Gara U. Lee sentenced Hatfield to 62 years for the murder charge for the death of Jasmine Hatfield on June 11, 2021. Hatfield was also found to be a habitual offender, which added an additional 16 years to his charge to be served consecutively.

Hatfield received credit for 864 days of time served, meaning Hatfield would be 120 years old by the time he would finish serving his sentence.

Hatfield killed his wife in the couple’s Oaktown home. Hatfield was arrested the same day in Sullivan County. When cops found him, he had blood-stained hands. He told officers, “he and his wife argued a lot.”

Officers responded to the home many times on past domestic violence calls.
