Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market seeks firm to conduct research, make recommendations for the future

BLOOMINGTONBloomington Parks and Recreation has released a Request for Proposals for research and community feedback that will be used to develop action plans and recommendations to guide the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market in future years.

The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024. The Market, its vendors, and customers have changed since 1974 and the timing is right to review how the Market can continue to best serve the community, local farmers and growers, and local businesses.

The Farmers’ Market Advisory Council and Parks and Recreation staff have identified five priority areas for the Market:

  1. Identify and benchmark the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market against other municipal markets;
  2. Research best practices for booth pricing and vendor recruitment;
  3. Identify community expectations for the Market;
  4. Collect input from Market vendors about all facets of Market operations;
  5. Calculate the economic value of the Market.

The research project is expected to take place from February through September 2024.

Proposals for the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market Evaluation must be submitted electronically by Dec. 8, 2023, at 4 p.m. EST.
