BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence won three events during girls high school swimming action at Bloomington North on Thursday night.
Cookie King claimed the 100-yard backstroke in 1:13.47, while Ava Lipp touched first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:24.48. The Stars also won the 400 freestyle relay as Emma Heinzman, Amelia Rich, Bridget Keen and Francesca Orozco combined to clock 5:09.65.
In the boys meet, Isaiah Eicle recorded the lone win for BNL, taking the 500 free in 5:32.24.
“We had a lot of nice performances,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “We swam off events for the most part, as we continue to see what these teams can do. Cookie and Ava both held their own. Isaiah had a great night.
“The new swimmers, freshmen and otherwise, are really doing well. They are really starting to figure things out. They are getting faster every day. Emma Heinzman and Mia Manke are doing great and we will be counting on them more and more as the season progresses. Morgan Conover really surprised me with a great job in his first 100 breast ever. Emma Conover had a great first IM. I’m really pleased with our newest swimmers right now. It’s not easy to come in having never swam competitively before and do the things they are doing.”
BNL will host Martinsville on Tuesday.
