Cecelia Jeanette (Burks) Atkinson, 84, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Mitchell Manor.
Born on August 10, 1939, she was the daughter of James Burks and Inez (East) Morgan. She was raised in the home of Charles “Bud” and Inez Morgan. She married James Atkinson, and he passed away in 2015.
Cecelia was a QMA at the Hospitality House and West View Manor. She was a 1958 graduate of Bedford High School. She loved playing euchre, and flowers and spending time with her family. She was an avid Colts and IU basketball fan.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Cecelia are six children: Kimberly (Leon) Price, Dennis (Sonmi) Hughes, Christopher (Candy) Hughes, John (Mia) Hughes, Nicholas “Charles” (Stacy) Hughes and Stephanie Hughes; grandchildren, Anthony, Ahna, Leah, Tiffanie, Rebecca, Nicholas II, Gracie, Eric, Morgan, Nathan, and Dusty; great-grandchildren, Hadley, Archer, Breckin, Addison Jo, Gage, Christopher, Isabella, Dwayne, Dominic, JJ, Noah, Kash, Bo, Blaze, and Hallie; along with several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Angela Morgan; baby brother, Jesse Harlen; and granddaughter, Morgan Lee.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to the service time on Wednesday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
