BEDFORD– Ruler Foods in Bedford will be closing its doors for good soon. A local store manager confirmed with WBIW that the store will close on January 23rd.
The location was known as Mills Market for most of its life until it was bought by Jay C in the late 1990s. The location has served as a grocery for decades, and the future of the building is uncertain.
WBIW News reached out to Ruler’s corporate headquarters to ascertain a reason for the closing and a spokesperson responded:
At Ruler Foods, we continually evaluate our store portfolio to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our customers and operating efficiently. After a thorough review of the store’s performance and future potential, we have made the difficult decision to close the Bedford, Indiana store located at 624 16Th St, Bedford, IN 47421. This decision was not taken lightly, as we understand the impact it has on our valued customers, associates, and the community.
We are committed to assisting our affected associates during this transition and will be offering them the opportunity to transfer to the nearby Ruler Food location, where they can continue to serve our customers and grow with the company. Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition for our associates and minimize any disruption to their lives.
