BLOOMINGTON – Several organizations and agencies work together to offer outdoor recreation skills and nature knowledge programs, with a model of women teaching women.
To kick off the 2024 season, the organizers are hosting a free Mini-Expo to offer a sneak peek at what’s in store for the year, reach new participants, and allow meeting and interacting with the instructors. The Women in Nature Gaining Skills (WINGS) Mini-Expo will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 21, at the Commons Building at Karst Farm Park in Bloomington.
Participants can drop in to sample past and future WINGS activities such as wild edibles foraging, fishing and casting skills, tent camping, archery, birding, seed sowing, and stand-up paddleboarding. Themed snacks (while supplies last) and 2024 activity schedules will also be offered.
Anyone is welcome to attend.
Women in Nature Gaining Skills (WINGS) aims to encourage and empower women with the skills and confidence they need to partake in outdoor recreation activities in the south-central Indiana area.
Each WINGS event features women-led hands-on training to build a community of women interested in outdoor recreation.
WINGS events occur on the 3rd Sunday of each month and are open to ages 16 and up.
