WASHINGTON, CO. – A Bedford woman was arrested after an accident on Wednesday, January 17.
At approximately 4:35 p.m., deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the intersection of State Road 60 East and Voyles Road about a motor vehicle accident involving three vehicles.
Evidence at the scene and witness statements revealed that Rhyan Murphy, 24, of Pekin, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus. Murphy was stopped in the westbound lane of State Road 60, waiting to turn left onto Voyles Road.
Patricia Garrison, 32, of Bedford, was traveling west on State Road 60 East in a 2010 Dodge Journey. Garrison failed to stop and rear-ended Murphy’s vehicle. Garrison’s vehicle continued into the eastbound lane of State Road 60 and struck a 2024 Honda CRV driven by Judith Black, 64, of Floyd Knobs.
Black was transported to Floyd County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries by the Washington County Ambulance Service. Murphy and Garrison both refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police say Garrison was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Garrison was arrested and transported to the Washington County Detention Center on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangerment.
Deputy Hailee Lopotosky is the lead investigating officer and was assisted by Deputy Paul Riesling, Lt. Wayne Blevins, along with members of the Pierce/Polk Volunteer Fire Department and Washington County Ambulance Service.
