HURON – Firefighters from Marion, Indian Creek, and Shawswick Township Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house fire in the 600 block of Kings Ridge Road Thursday morning,
The owners, James and Judith King, woke just after 2:00 a.m. to the sound of the smoke detectors sounding and escaped uninjured.
A defensive attack was initiated until sufficient personnel arrived on the scene and transitioned to an interior attack on the fire,” said Marion Township VFD Chief Paul Gillespie.”The fire was confined to the room of origin, with smoke and water damage throughout the residence. The home suffered moderate damage, and the family was displaced and living with a relative who lived nearby. There were no injuries associated with the fire.
Chief Gillespie said the cause of the fire is suspected to be electrical. However, the cause is still under investigation.
An IU LifeLine ambulance crew assisted at the scene.
