MITCHELL –The Mitchell City Council is moving forward to increase the city’s trash collection fee.
Residents will not be allowed to opt out of the service.
The current fee of $10 a month has not increased for several years. But due to inflation, the fee will increase to $14 a month this year, generating $16,510 a month or $198,120 a year for the city. The fee will again increase in 2025 to $15 a month.
Mayor Don Caudell says a public hearing will be held so residents can voice their concerns. No date has been set for the meeting.
