LOWELL – 2023 was a busy year for the Lowell Post related to operating while intoxicated enforcement.
The top ten troopers in the district recorded a combined total of 594 OWI arrests, well over 600 for the year.
Lt. Terry Gose commented, “While I am truly grateful for the effort put forth by our troopers, it is disappointing that this number for OWI arrests is as high as it is. Our district remains steadfast in our commitment to removing impaired drivers from our roadways.”
The Indiana State Police reminds anyone who goes out and consumes alcoholic beverages or any other means of becoming impaired not to operate a motor vehicle. There are options available, such as ride-shares, calling a friend/family member for a ride, or just having a responsible, sober, designated driver. Remember, buzzed driving is impaired driving.
