Dorothy Marie Carroll, 88, of Mitchell, passed away Monday, January 29, 2024, at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born November 6, 1935, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Hubert and Georgie (White) Atchison. She married Donald “Don” Bruce Carroll on June 11, 1960 and he survives.
Dorothy was a cashier at Jay-C Food Stores for 25 years and tour director for D & D Travel for 37 years. She was a 1955 graduate of Huron High School and was active with the Huron Alumni Association. Dorothy was a Bryantsville Church of Christ member, a former chaperone for the Orleans band, and affiliated with Orange County 4-H.
Survivors include her husband, Don Carroll of Mitchell; grandsons, Kyle Carroll of Paoli and C. J. Carroll of Mitchell; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Her parents, son, Kevin Don Carroll, and brothers, John Atchison, Kenneth Eugene Atchison, Hubert Roland “Peanut” Atchison, and James Ott Atchison, preceded her in death.
The graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, February 1, at Mitchell Cemetery. Brother Don White will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
