PUTNAM CO. – A Greencastle woman is accused of trying to cash a forged check worth $25,000 at a Putnam County bank.
Jessie J. Furnish, 32, was arrested by state troopers on felony forgery and theft charges. She also reportedly had an outstanding warrant out of Puntam County for a Level 3 felony drug charge.
Indiana State Trooper Detective Colton Maynard initiated a criminal investigation in October of 2023 after receiving information from a Putnam County bank that Furnish had allegedly forged a check for self-gain to a bank for $25,000.
After reviewing the investigation, the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for Furnish’s arrest. She was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Troopers of the Putnamville State Police Post and transported to the Putnam County Jail.
Furnish is being held at the Putnam County Jail without bond.
Court records show Furnish’s outstanding warrant stems from a January 2023 case where she was charged with possession of a narcotic drug along with drug trafficking with an inmate and official misconduct.
Investigating Officer: Indiana State Police Trooper Detective Colton Maynor, assisted by Troopers Kyle Hall and James Crisp of the Putnamville Post and Deputies of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
