PAOLI – Paoli Police Chief Randy Sanders commends Officer Zachary Cook’s diligent efforts in apprehending suspects involved in drug-related activities during a routine traffic stop on Friday, February 2.
Upon further investigation, Officer Cook, with astute professionalism, gathered the necessary information from the driver and detected the presence of marijuana in the vehicle.
Heather Kavanaugh, a passenger in the truck, also admitted to possessing a small quantity of marijuana. However, a more thorough search led to the discovery of a significant amount of methamphetamine concealed within Kavanaugh’s possession.
The assistance of Indiana State Police Trooper Alexander was instrumental in conducting a comprehensive search, resulting in the discovery of additional illicit substances secreted on Kavanaugh’s person.
Chief Sanders emphasizes the department’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. “This arrest underscores the dedication of our officers in combating illegal drug activities within our jurisdiction,” Chief Sanders added.
Kavanaugh was transported to the Orange County Jail to face charges.
