INDIANAPOLIS – Springs Valley’s Derek Freeman was named the Class 1A Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC).
Freeman was honored during Friday’s annual meeting at the Sheraton Hotel in Indianapolis.
Freeman was honored with the Longevity Award, recognizing his 20-year commitment to the sport.
Under Freeman’s leadership, the boys’ track and field team concluded the regular season with a stellar record of 47-8, a testament to the team’s consistent excellence. They won the PLAC Conference in dominating fashion for the sixth consecutive year. The boys also clinched a record-breaking nine PLAC events.
Freeman humbly attributed the success to the collective effort of the coaching staff, athletes, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
