BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested after she fled from police on Sunday, February 11.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Shaun D. Cabral, Central Dispatch received a 911 call hang-up at 6:45 a.m. at 204 Silver Lane.
Deputies Cabarl and Christian James responded to the home, which had a history of domestic fight calls. They knocked on the door and could hear 41-year-old Ricquitta Johnson yelling inside. A male answered the door.
Officers stated the male who answered was intoxicated and went into his bedroom. Officers asked to enter the home to speak to the male. Johnson told police they could and to wait inside the door.
Officers learned Johnson was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Once Johnson was told she would be detained on an outstanding warrant, she ran further into the house.
Johnson claimed officers could not take her because she was in the parliament and had immunity.
Johnson was told to place her hands behind her back. She forcibly resisted, continued to scream, and began kicking Officer James.
She was forced down on the couch and then rolled to her stomach. She continued to yell and resist by kicking Officer Cabral. Once handcuffed, she continued to resist. She had to be carried to a patrol vehicle and continued to attempt to kick officers and scream.
Also arrested was 36-year-old Theresa Hughes, who was also wanted on an outstanding warrant. She was detained without incident.
Johnson was arrested on the warrant and a new charge of resisting arrest.
Two juveniles were also transported to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, where they were given food and drink and waited for their grandmother, who lived in Louisville, to arrive.
