Obituary: Everett ‘Dean’ Fleetwood

September 14, 1937 – February 17, 2024

Everett ‘Dean’ Fleetwood, 86, of Heltonville, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.

Born on September 14, 1937, he was the son of Lessly and Helen Fleetwood. He married Karen Lipscomb on January 16, 1959, and she passed away on December 14, 2021.

Dean was a North Lawrence bus driver and Lawrence County Solid Waste Station attendant and owned and operated a sawmill. He was a graduate of Heltonville High School. He was a member of Heltonville Baptist Church and the National Guard.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Dean are two sisters, Tammy Reuter, and Rickie Anderson; three brothers, Ray, Rex, and Kevin; his caregiver and niece, Sherry Todd; along with several nieces and nephews.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Karen; two sisters, Martha Davis and Louise Meadows; and four brothers, Bob, Willard, Ronnie, and Dale.

Funeral services for Dean will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Pastor Duane Brown officiating. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Thursday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel. Cremation will follow the service, and burial will be at a later date at Gilgal Cemetery.
