PAOLI – Thanks to an anonymous tip, Paoli Police officers conducted a traffic stop on two subjects suspected of trafficking and dealing marijuana products in the area.
On Sunday, February 18, officers received information that Malachi Terry and Victoria Sturgeon were traveling back from Michigan with a large amount of marijuana.
Officers got a description of the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on State Road 37 North near Hankins Towing for speeding.
The occupants, Terry and Sturgeon, who were in the vehicle, consented to a search of the car, and the marijuana products were located as suspected.
Chief Randy Sanders and the department would like to thank the citizens who called in and made this report.
“The public’s help and support are critical tools in our efforts to combat illegal substances in our community,” he added. “The growing thought is that marijuana will be legal soon and that it isn’t something to worry about. However, it is still illegal in Indiana and is a growing problem within our schools and youth population. The Paoli Police Department will remain strong in our position of protecting our local youth, fostering stronger relationships with the community, and deterring any and all crime.”
