JACKSON COUNTY– Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Company is scheduled to close S.R. 258 on or after Monday, March 4, for a superstructure replacement project in Jackson County. Crews will begin to place signage in the area before the start of construction.
The project will take place at the intersection of S.R. 258 and C.R. 300 West, which is located just over two miles east of Freetown. The closure is expected to take up to 90 days, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route, which follows S.R. 11 to U.S. 50 to S.R. 135 back to S.R. 258.
This project is part of a $4.5 million contract awarded to Force Construction in January 2023. The contract includes a total of three bridge rehabilitation projects and four culvert replacement projects. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, be cautious, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
