BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was detained after Bedford Police Sgt. Faheem Bade stopped her vehicle on Wednesday, February 21, for a traffic stop at 10:44 p.m.
According to Sgt. Bade was on patrol on 5th Street when he saw the driver of a black Silverado run a stop sign at M Street and turn onto 5th Street, nearly striking his police vehicle.
Sgt. Bade initiated a traffic stop and the driver pulled over in a parking lot near 5th and L Streets.
Sgt. Bade said the driver, 23-year-old Megan Dusard, smelled of alcohol. She also had slurred speech and glassy eyes. When asked how much she had to drink, she replied on “a couple of beers”.
She was asked to step out of the vehicle and perform field sobriety tests, which she failed.
Dusard submitted to a preliminary breath test and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.164.
Dusard then admitted she had six to seven beers at Shorty’s Bar & Grill and left at
approximately 10:30 p.m. Sgt. Bade also found an open WoodChuch Hard Cider in the vehicle and a flask of Vodka in the center console.
Dusard was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI per se, and OWI endangerment.
Her vehicle was towed by Stone City Collision.
