Camp Invention: Illuminate coming to Lincoln Elementary

BEDFORD – In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF), North Lawrence Community Schools is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention: Illuminate program to kindergarten through sixth-grade children.

The cost for children entering grades K – 6 is $270. Leader-in-Training spots for grades 7 – 9 may be available at $170.

Camp will be held at Lincoln Elementary School at 2014 F Street in Bedford from June 24 through June 28 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

Exciting news for this location: officials have added an Extended Day option to your cart at registration for a more convenient program schedule extended Day hours are from 7:30 a.m. until to 5:30 p.m. for an additional $100 per week.

Give your young innovator an inspiring, action-packed summer adventure! Exciting, hands-on challenges will spark curiosity and build their confidence as they jump into limitless STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fun with opportunities to imagine, experiment, and create. Gear up for sports and invention as you investigate the science of sports ball design, then personalize your light-up game board. Get your creativity rolling to achieve your goal of being inducted into the Game of Fame!

PERSISTENCE  

Shine bright as you use the science of light to create a customized Glow Box! Find inspiration from illuminating inventions and animals that glow to reveal a mystery behind a creature with a glowing feature.

PROBLEM-SOLVING  

Embark on an epic global operation to solve real-world water challenges! With help from your own robotic Lab-On-Wheels, explore water-based technology, then unlock sustainable design thinking by engineering a tiny house with crops.

CREATIVITY  

Step into the Prototyping Studio to bring your big ideas to life! Mold and transform unique inventions as you uncover the many places world-changing inventors create, then protect your prototypes with the power of intellectual property.  

1) Be an Innovative All-Star With In the Game™

As children create their light-up game board, they team up to tackle athletics, design, business, and invention! Campers examine various sports balls’ features and specialized materials, then create their own to use with their personalized game. They build a brand, create a logo, and are recognized for their creativity by being inducted into the Game of Fame!

2) Shine Bright With Let’s Glow™

Creativity radiates as campers uncover the science of light through illuminating inventions and glowing animals. They build persistence as they make a one-of-a-kind Glow Box, experimenting with different forms of light and customizing their designs. Through the power of illumination, their ideas shine!

3) Explore the Earth and Water With Operation: HydroDrop™

Campers embark on an epic global operation to help solve water challenges worldwide! They learn about water’s role for people and the planet, then customize a robotic lab-on-wheels to assist in their exploration. They use problem-solving to design engineering inventions that will help create a crystal-clear future!

4) Build Big Ideas With Prototyping Studio™

Children will star as contestants on a game show where they mold, shape, and transform their ideas into amazing inventions! Using a DIY toolbox and everyday materials, as well as inspiration from Our Nation’s Greatest Innovators™, they complete a series of exciting prototyping challenges. While tapping into their imagination, they discover that invention can happen anywhere.
