MONROE CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors LP is scheduled to close the South Smith Road approach at State Road 46 on or after Tuesday, March 12, to conduct intersection improvement work in Bloomington.
Motorists traveling east and westbound S.R. 46 cannot turn onto South Smith Road for up to 45 days, weather permitting. Local access for businesses in the area will be maintained. The sidewalk will remain closed at the approach while work is in progress. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route, which follows S.R. 446 to Moores Pike to South Smith Road.
This contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors in May 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, be cautious, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
