INDIANA – According to Sgt. John Perrine, a 17-year-old girl, was driving on I-465 when someone reportedly cut her off. The girl said she honked at the driver, who cut her off, and that driver responded with a barrage of gunfire.
Bullets pierced through the windshield and even ripped through the driver’s seat.
Perrine said the teen was fortunate she was not injured.
“If you see road rage, call 911 immediately, even if you are not involved,” Perrine added.
According to state police, last year, Indiana state troopers investigated 56 incidents of gunfire on Indianapolis area interstates. In 2024, there have been 15 interstate shootings and another 56 incidents of someone pointing or displaying a gun toward another driver in a fit of road rage.
Indiana State Police continue to investigate the shooting of the 17-year-old.
If you witness any road rage shootings on the interstate, contact state police or call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
