Betty Louise (Henderson) Johnson, 90, of Bedford, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at her residence.
Born on January 6, 1934, she was the daughter of James Wilson “Bill” and Dorothy Stailey Henderson. She then married Clarence W. “Bill” Johnson, Sr. Betty attended New Hope Community Church and was a homemaker.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Betty is one son, Clarence William “Bill” Johnson, Jr. of Bedford; one daughter, Kathy A. Escobedo (Carlos) of Bedford; grandsons, Donnie Burchard (Dayan) of Bedford and Tony Escobedo of Bedford; granddaughters, Angela Chastain, Heather Johnson (Scott) Kace Escobedo and Cara Escobedo (Jon); great-grandsons, Alec Riggs, Rider Burchard, Tyler Bellush and Dylan Chastain; great-granddaughters, Breanna Riggs, Hannah Riggs, Emily Chastain, Kyla Reed, Tayelor Reed and Dalorian Louise Burchard; her sister Judy Knuppenburg (Howard) of Arizona; and her very special friend, Mary Ellen Sowders; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, Clarence “Bill” Johnson, Sr.; her long-term companion, Paul “Jack” Swafford; sisters Barbara, Patty, and Mary; brothers Dean, Jerry, Johnny, and Jimmy; her aunt and uncle Cordia Haskett and Charlie Stailey, her special mom and granddad Nettie and Felix Stailey, and her grandma and grandpa Henderson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Bro. Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Riley Children’s Hospital of St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Betty L. Johnson instead of flowers.
