BEDFORD – A Bloomington man was arrested on Easter Sunday after Bedford Police received an anonymous about an intoxicated driver in a Chrysler Sebring leaving Hamilton Court apartments.
At 9:59 p.m. Sgt. Faheem Bade spotted the vehicle traveling south on Hillcrest Road.
Sgt. Bade reported traveling 35 miles per hour when the vehicle pulled away from him in a 20-mile-per-hour zone.
Sgt. Bade initiated a traffic stop, and the driver, 44-year-old Kenny Buckner of Bloomington, stopped in the Sunoco station parking lot at 16th Street and Hillcrest Road.
Sgt. Bade said Buckner smelled of alcohol.
Buckner failed several field sobriety tests and was detained. He did a preliminary breath test, which yielded a result of 0.135 percent blood-alcohol content. He agreed to submit a blood test and was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital. He was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, OWI per se.
