MONROE CO. — On Sunday, a vehicle ran off Interstate 69 and struck a building near the roadway.
The Monroe County Fire Protection District reported that crews were dispatched to West Industrial Park Drive near Bloomington after a building’s fire alarm went off.
Additional calls reported a vehicle left the roadway from the southbound lanes of Interstate 69 and went down the embankment into the building.
Officials later determined a vehicle crash set off the building’s fire and burglary alarms.
As firefighters arrived, both vehicle occupants were outside the building and reported no significant injuries.
Due to the incident being called in as a fire alarm on Industrial Park Dr and a wreck on I-69, MFD received assistance from Ellettsville Fire Department Engine 81, City of Bloomington, IN – Fire Department Engine 4, IU Health Ambulance, Indiana State Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and Duke Energy.
Officials indicated that dispatchers heard from callers who reported that the vehicle left the southbound lanes of I-69, drove down an embankment, and hit the building.
