PUTNAM CO. – On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post participated in a mock portrayal of a fatal accident involving an intoxicated student driver.
This mock accident was to educate the students at Cloverdale High School on the importance of never driving while intoxicated, not driving distracted, staying within the speed limit, and always buckling up.
The Cloverdale High School prom is this coming weekend, and the mock accident was to convey the consequences of negative choices and how those choices can affect their lives. ISP and Cloverdale Community Schools wanted to educate all students on making the right decisions when it’s time to drive.
Cathy Ames, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Cloverdale, stated, “Mock drinking and driving accidents before prom serve as a powerful reminder that the consequences of those actions are real, irreversible, and devastating. We always want our Clovers to be safe, and we appreciate all the first responders who helped make this afternoon possible.” The Indiana State Police wants all students to enjoy their prom weekend, make correct life choices, and get home safely!
Assisting agencies: Cloverdale Police Department, Putnam County EMS, Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam County Coroner’s Office, Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office, and St. Vincent Stat Life.
