MITCHELL – Mitchell Police officers will be placing warnings on windshields to remind residents NOT to park against the flow of traffic.
While it is not an offense, it violates City Ordinance 73-12 (1973, #12).
According to Chief Troy Lobosky, pulling out a vehicle facing against the flow of traffic requires the driver to pull the vehicle out almost completely to see oncoming traffic, creating an increased risk of a crash.
He added that pulling out in a properly parked vehicle allows the driver to use the rearview mirror to see approaching traffic and look over his/her left shoulder without pulling into oncoming traffic, all without moving the vehicle.
