BROWNSTOWN – Police arrested Kassandra L. Bracewell, 28, of Brownstown, following the death of a 1-year-old child earlier this month.
According to the Brownstown Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment on West Spring Street at 4:08 p.m. on May 16.
They found a 1-year-old child who wasn’t breathing. The child was taken to a Schneck Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis for “advanced treatment.”
The 1-year-old died in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 19, police said.
Police have not released the child’s name or if Bracewell is the child’s mother.
Bracewell was arrested on Saturday, May 25, on a preliminary charge of neglect of a dependent causing death. She is being held without bond in the Jackson County Jail until her initial hearing.
The case remains under investigation.
According to mycase.in.gov, Bracewell has a lengthy criminal history, including charges of dealing and possession of meth, theft, fraud, and possession of marijuana.
