BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant after police responded to a two-vehicle accident on February 11, 2024, at 6:46 p.m. in the 2000 block of South I Street.
Police arrested 33-year-old Michael Ritchison on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI endangerment, and OWI controlled substance.
According to Lawrence County Police Sheriff’s Department Deputy Robin Compton, when officers arrived, a member of Shawswick Fire Department said Ritchison had admitted to consuming a few ‘shooters’ prior to the collision.
Ritchison was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for treatment of his injuries. While there he consented to a blood draw.
On April 9, 2024, police received the toxicology report. It confirmed Ritchison’s blood-alcohol level was .067 and he also had buprenorphine, norbuprenorphine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine in his system.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
