BEDFORD – A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Bedford man after police say he violated a protective order several times during the month of May.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Andrew D. Tillett, a woman came to the Sheriff’s Department to report that 45-year-old Matthew Kelley had sent her a text message about visiting their girls. The woman said Kelley wanted the woman to drop off the children, but she texted back she would not because he was “getting high.” He texted back “wait and see.”
She then told police he again violated the protective order when he showed up at a ballgame in Heltonville and sat next to them. The woman had snapped a photo of Kelley sitting with them.
The woman also provided police with numerous other text messages from Kelley.
Kelley also purchased the woman a Mother’s Day gift and card.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Kelley’s arrest on a charge of invasion of privacy.
