MITCHELL— At 1:20 a.m. on Friday, May 31, Mitchell Police Department Officer Steven Britten received a tip about possible drug activity in an apartment on West Main Street.
Officers Britten and Kuhlman responded to the apartment they could smell the odor of marijuana. They knocked on the door and 51-year-old Stephanie Bickel answered. When asked about the marijuana she admitted she had a small amount in her apartment. She denied officers entry to the apartment.
Bickel then attempted to retreat back into her apartment and was detained. Officers applied for a search warrant which Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline granted.
Police searched the apartment and found a glass smoking pipe with meth residue in Bickel’s purse, a small corner baggie of crystal meth, and a baggie of 20.71 percent THC Common Citizen marijuana. There was also a partially smoked marijuana cigarettes on the nightstand. In a plastic drawer police found two more glass smoking pipes one with marijuana residue and the other with meth residue inside.
Bickel was arrested on charges of possession of meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
