INDIANAPOLIS— The Indiana Family Health Council (IFHC) is excited to announce the arrival of a new mobile clinic that will provide reproductive health and family planning services in communities considered contraceptive deserts.
The Your Health. Our Care unit will serve insured, uninsured, and underinsured individuals. Residency in the community or state is not a requirement for receiving services.
“Our commitment to offering affordable, equitable, and quality reproductive health services in underserved communities has led us on a two-year adventure of having the mobile unit built,” said Kristin Adams, President and CEO of IFHC. “As more individuals need affordable family planning and reproductive care, IFHC is always looking for ways to expand and broaden our ability to reach patients.”
The mobile health unit will offer confidential and quality reproductive healthcare to women, men, and adolescents. Services provided will include contraceptive care, regular exams, STD/STI screenings, pregnancy testing, and pre-conception health.
Businesses, governmental organizations, and nonprofit organizations may schedule the mobile unit to come to their communities or locations on the organization’s website (www.infpc.org).
The Your Health. Our Care. mobile unit was made possible through funding from the Office of Population Affairs Title X Family Planning Grant. IFHC is one of two Title X grantees in Indiana. It has been the primary Indiana Title X grantee since 1976. In 1970, Congress established Title X with bipartisan support. It is the only federal grant program for family planning and related preventative health services for low-income or underinsured individuals.
“As we strive to improve population health outcomes, IFHC contributes to this effort by assisting individuals in planning their families,” Adams said.
An open house for the public is planned for June 17, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2960 N. Meridian St.
