BLOOMFIELD – Literacy Backpacks made by the United Way of South Central Indiana Take Action volunteers will soon be in the hands of young learners participating in Storytime at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.
These 20 backpacks are tailored to kids in grades K-2 and include three books, a reading/writing workbook, a journal, and a pencil case with writing supplies.
Thanks to Jessica with the Bloomfield Eastern Greene County Public Library for picking up the backpacks.
Growing and sustaining a love of reading and writing are critical skills everyone needs to navigate the world and achieve their full potential successfully.
Literacy backpacks are a fun way for kids — ranging in age from preschool to middle school — to get excited about these vital skills.
According to a 20-year study by the University of Nevada, “parents who have books in the home increase the level of education their children will attain.” Literacy Backpacks are designed with age-appropriate interactive tools to ignite a love for reading and help children strengthen their literacy skills.
