HUNTINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence’s Jeff Callahan closed out his coaching career with three wins in the annual North-South All-Star baseball series at Huntington College.
Callahan, who announced his retirement with the Stars prior to the 2024 season, guided the South All-Stars to a three-game sweep of the North. The South won the first two games (11-5 and 12-11 on Saturday) before finishing the sweep with a 5-3 triumph (in a game played with wooden bats) on Sunday.
The South blasted to an 11-0 lead in the first game, as Alex Schuler drove in three runs. The South hung on during the second game of the doubleheader as the North scored six runs in the final two innings before falling short. Hogan Denny had two hits and two RBIs for the South during that win. Noah Coy had two RBIs for the South in the finale.
Denny was named the series MVP.
